Thursday April 15th

They are done with the basement floor and the stairs.
They asked me to water the concrete tomorrow night.
We are not expecting any work to be done until next week. Our contractor needs to take the new roof design to the county for approval.

Thursday April 15th

This is the sum-pump in the basement.

Video at the beginning of the work.

Thursday April 15th

They backfilled the area around the basement walls on Tuesday.
Today, Thursday, they pour the concrete for the floor and the stairs.
I am amazed at how much work it took to finish the basement floor, it was non-stop back breaking work.
They started with 8 men, bringing the concrete from the truck since there is no easy access from my front yard. Once they finish pouring and leveling all the concrete, one man stayed behind to finish it all, the stairs and the floor.
At 5pm three other men came to help him and he, the lone worker, was not happy to have been left alone. He told them that the concrete was drying fast and the stairs take too long to finish.
They worked until almost 8pm.
Here is the result..

Sunday April 10th

Not much has been done since Thursday.
The Arlington inspector came on Friday, approved the drain tiles and the basement floor.
They are suppose to backfill around the basement wall on Monday, pour concrete on Tuesday and hopefully start framing by the end of the week. I can't wait!

Wednesday April 7th

-Today the added plastic and wire to the basement floor, the finishing touches before the pour the concrete floor.
-Tomorrow the inspector comes and if everything is approved, they will pour the concrete.
-It is supposed to rain tonight. I am worried about the possible effects of the rain on the basement floor.

Tuesday April 6th

-We decided to add insulation to the basement floor.
-Today they leveled the floor and added gravel.
-They framed the stairs.
-They connected the stair drain to the sum-pump.
-The red circles are where the rebars are.

Monday April 5th

Three workers came to dig the french drain and the sum-pump.
The stairs drain will also be connected to the sum-pump.

Talked to Jose Diaz, our contractor, about adding 1" of floor insulation to the floor since I'll be spending a lot of time in that room.
This will cost an extra $400.

Sun. April 4th

Sunday April 4th
We decided to go with 6x6 treated wood for the window wells instead of the typical metal wells, this will cost $1000.
The three windows will be connected by one big well. I think it will be nicer to look at the wood than the metal.

My resposibilities

My responsibilities as a homeowner have started.
I have to choose the windows and kitchen cabinets. This means having to spend hours comparing prices with a variety of suppliers. It is exhausting!!!

April 3rd

Friday April 2nd
-They added a second layer of waterproofing to the basement walls, they did not have to do this, but our contractor wanted to make sure our basement stays dry. He also decided to water proof the bottom track where the drain tiles would sit.
-The added a plastic layer on top of the waterproofed wall.
-They poured the concrete on the footings for the new supporting wall.

Saturday April 3rd
-They install all the drain tiles.
-They poured all the pebbles on top of the drain tiles and added a filter on top of that.
-They made a whole for the sum-pump.
